安慰

ānwèi - comfort, console

This is the first time I written about a new word in ages. First time this year in fact. One reason has been the fact that I've not been studying Chinese for a while, another being that I've only just worked out how to type Chinese with my now-not-so-new Linux computer. Hence today's post.

I was watching the video for Faye Wong's Sunshine Baby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDz65Z3eMKo), trying to understand it. One word I had to look up was 安慰, which seemed like such a good word, I was inspired to write about it. The line, which I mainly understood (other than the role of  带), was:

希望月亮带给你安慰
I hope the moon brings you comfort.
